The show was packed with some of the NW's most exciting service providers and products. Celebrities included local television and radio personalities, as well as Brandon Beemer from "The Bold and The Beautiful".
A surprisingly huge hit with everyone that tried it, was an exciting, new product that was developed locally, Do-It-Yourself Tarot® which debuted at this year's 2008 Spirit & Style NW Womens Fair. Described as "amazingly accurate", "a dead-on reading", "a refreshing change from traditional tarot decks that are time-consuming, confusing and sometimes creepy", "an incredibly fun and empowering experience that I can't wait to play with my girlfriends the next time we get together over a Lemon Drop!"
London Boggs, the award winning tarot deck's visionary described some of the challenges she encountered when taking the concept to market which included; Copyright/Trademark infringement by large US companies and a small pirater abroad, and despite receiving advice against proceeding with her development of the concept from one of the nation's largest toy manufacturer's brokers and a large playing card/tarot manufacturer, London followed her instincts and found success by creating a stylish tarot deck that has revolutionized a very old and tired industry....a deck which seems consumers don't want to put down.
"I'm thrilled at the positive feed-back we've received on the deck. It's clear the demographic for this concept easily falls within the "Fashionista" category. I designed the deck with myself and my girlfriends in mind and envisioned women like us purchasing these decks from distinctive retail outlets. I don't see them being mixed in with a bunch of old tarot decks but rather on their own. From then on I can see them being used for quick individual readings by busy women who are curious about where their lives are headed, as well as by groups of girlfriends over cocktails, while catching-up and having fun reading each other's cards. Do-It-Yourself Tarot® was intentionally designed to be like no other tarot decks that have been published before.
I was told by one of the largest tarot card manufactures and online distributors that black & white tarot decks have never been successful and that consumers will not purchase them. But strangely enough, I found quite the opposite when I decided to take the concept to market myself. It seems women are not interested in colorful or ornate medievel imagery which make absolutely no sense to them. Furthermore the simple and stylish at -a- glance imagery that is contained in Do-It-Yourself Tarot® has been described as refreshing, non-threatening, easy to remember and infectiously fun!
